Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
- I Corinthians 13:13

Happy HolidaysMerry Christmas and Happy Holidays!  As you prepare to enjoy the holidays with family and friends, we wanted to take a moment and thank you for your optimism and compassion.

It is generally accepted – outside of liberal circles – that your conservative values of liberty and free enterprise have made America the most prosperous country on earth.

But did you know that, contrary to conventional wisdom, you have also helped make America the world’s most compassionate society?

The hidden truth is that the individual giving and private compassion of conservatives ultimately fuels more caring for the

less fortunate than does any amount of government-funded “giving.”

For reasons of faith, family and other traditional American values, conservatives overall give significantly more to
charity than liberals despite earning less in income.

And did you know that charitable giving by Americans, with conservatives in the lead, strengthens and invigorates our society in ways government can never duplicate?

These hidden truths were uncovered by Syracuse University Economist Arthur Brooks in this groundbreaking book, Who Really Cares.

Earlier this month, the Buckeye Institute brought Dr. Brooks’s message of the compassionate conservative to Ohio with a breakfast lecture in
Cincinnati.

In his engaging presentation, Dr. Brooks left our audience energized knowing that their generosity and compassion were having a profound impact on the fabric of life in our state and country.

Take a moment and watch or listen to Dr. Brooks’s presentation.   His insight on the true rewards of giving is the perfect way to start the Holiday Week.

On behalf of the staff and directors of the Buckeye Institute, I wish you and yours a rich and full holiday season.

Sincerely,

President
The Buckeye Institute
