An interesting group has been brought to my attention: Purple America. Based in Ohio, Purple America is a push for students to engage in civic affairs and connect with American values. The website explains a variety of projects students and teachers can do to help with this goal.

Too often it is forgotten in America that changes in society are much more important than changes in government. It is likely that organizations like Purple America accomplish more lasting change than most government programs. Check them out if you have the time.
