Obama’s Big “O”

Friday, June 13th, 2008 By Mike Maurer

So Obama wants to tax payrolls above $250,000 . We’re already taxing payrolls up to $102,000. The folks between $102,000 and $250,000 get a small respite.

Guess that means he endorses George W’s Big O. Why not? Medicare Part D’s donut hole was a good start. Let’s get to Medicare parts E through Z as quick as possible. And if there’s still a problem that needs solved after government gets done with all that, I’m sure some forward thinking elected official will be creative enough to think of Medicare Part AA.

One Response to “Obama’s Big “O””

  1. Marc Schare Says:

It would be helpful if Ohioans understood the specifics of Senator Obama’s social security proposal. Does he plan, for example, to also tax small business profit as reported on 1040 Form SE, or is this truly just a FICA increase? Given that tax policy influences behavior, would this hurt employment (e.g. money that flows to the government is removed from the economy and cannot be used to expand the business, hire people, buy stuff etc..). Perhaps there is time to get into all these issues, but early voting in Ohio starts in about four months.
