Kudos to the Dispatch’s Mark Niquette for this story: “State failing to track new jobs

Politicians and bureaucrats are always promising milk and honey, new jobs here, new jobs there, saving $7 for every $1 invested.

But they make these promises and move on. They aren’t even bothering to count. Why should they? All they need to count is your vote, which they’re still getting. Successful politics apparently boils down to something quite simple, “Promise them anything.”

We don’t yet know what successful governance boils down to.
