Out of grotesque ACORNS sickly oaks grow

So the FBI has finally gotten interested in ACORN. About time.
The Plain Dealer reports that “Concerns over registration fraud loom in Cuyahoga County and across the nation. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason is moving fast in the investigation of suspicious registration cards collected by ACORN, a national group also drawing the FBI’s attention.”
Let’s hope that’s true. Mason is a Democrat, and if Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner can’t be an honest and dispassionate arbiter–appealing to Justice Stevens (would she have appealed to Justice Scalia?), disqualifying likely McCain voters for an absurd checkbox argument, and seemingly taking every step possible to undermine elections integrity rather than promote it–then at least there is someone of significance in the party who puts country and integrity first.
Meanwhile, John McCain promotes a grotesque attack on the First Amendment, and then abuses Brad Smith because Smith doesn’t understand the Constitution? Please.
It’s a sad time. No major party stands for individual freedom, and important institutions such as our universities and the Manhattan media aggravate the problem rather than alleviate it. People will be worse off because of it, and for a long while.
