Never forget

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 By Mike Maurer

This needs repeated:

When you provide opportunities for people to escape what is viewed as a problem, without looking at what the source of that problem is and fixing the problem, you’re going to create a further divide among individuals across the population and you’re going to create a greater sense of haves and have-nots.”

This, folks, is fascism, and like all fascists, she feels good about herself for saying it. It’s Barack Obama, it’s Ted Strickland, it’s redistribution. People like this think the world is full of Donald Trumps and all we have to do is take it away and we’ll all be singing Kum-bay-yah.

In reality, Americans are, generally, among the wealthiest in the world. If we really believed this stuff, we’d take away *our* wealth, even down to the 20th percentile, much less the 50th percentile. But I’ll take this young lady at her word if she gives up every bit of her salary down to the Ohio median. Her predecessor earned more than $104 an hour, more than $210,000 annually. (I’ve got a dollar for coffee that says our new schools hero will be paid more, but I admit it could go either way.) The Ohio mean income for 2007 was about $34,000. If Ms. Delisle gives up all her income down to the mean, I’ll believe she’s sincere. Otherwise, she just wants power, because, you know, she’s better and smarter than you are, and unlike you, you moron child-hater, she cares about children, even if she has to destroy untold numbers of them to save them.

(BTW, the median income, different than the mean, is $29,000 for “no earner” families. That’s quite a trick to have income with no earners, but it’s the world Ms. Delisle lives in, so long as she is spending your money and not hers. Add a single earner and the figure rises to $40,000. So I’ll cut her a break. If she gives up all her income to $40,000, I’ll believe she’s sincere and not just on a self-righteous power grab.)
