Canary in the coal mine

There’s been a good deal of nonsense pushed lately about free people somehow being unable to freely exchange goods with each other, when of course what has happened is government officials overpromise and otherwise act incompetently.
The price always comes due, and here’s where it will show up first. Whoever wins, but especially a President Obama, will just keep going back to this well. For the rest of us, the question will be when that well will run dry. I say before the end of an eight year Obama run, but that might be just as true of a McCain run. It’s not likely we can make as much as 20 years.
What can we do about it? Apparently not much. As the great Mark Steyn puts it, “This is pretty much the end of the line for me. If he remakes America, there’s nowhere for me to go”.
