Getting on the team
Monday, January 12th, 2009 By Mike MaurerLiberal columnist Thomas Suddes suffers a bad timing moment, calling for repeal of Ohio’s estate tax just when the Big O2 is calling for a bigger federal estate tax. One small objection: Suddes says proponents of eliminating business taxes promised that doing so would cause Ohio to “arrive at the gates of Jerusalem.”
Really? Could he give a cite on that one? Isn’t it more likely they just promised it would have a worthwhile marginal effect on business decisions?
Meanwhile, I’m sure Mr. Suddes won’t mind if low-taxers say that Obama has promised us his mere election will ensure our arrival at the Gates of Jerusalem. I for one am certainly looking forward to Jan. 20, when everything will be fixed. Whatever will we do come Jan. 21?
