Join School Choice Supporters at the Rally on Wednesday!
Monday, May 11th, 2009 By Beth Lear
My School My Choice, a coalition made up of parents, teachers, public charter schools, public e-schools, choice advocacy groups, families and education leaders will be hosting a rally for anyone who supports school choice this Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Ohio Statehouse from 10am to 2pm.
Why? The state’s education budget, introduced by Governor Ted Strickland and made more onerous by House Majority Democrats, will:
- Cut public charter school funding by 26%
- Cut e-school funding by 74%
- Increase regulations and unfunded mandates for all public charter schools and private schools that accept EdChoice students
- Increase the Ohio Department of Education’s authority over public charter schools and lessen the authority of their sponsors
