David Hansen
President
David Hansen was selected in December 2004 to lead the Buckeye Institute for Public Policy Solutions as its President.
The Buckeye Institute serves Ohio as the premier source of policy research and education representing the viewpoint of limited government, economic liberty, individual freedom and personal responsibility in the debates about Ohio’s present and future.
Our philosophy calls for growing the freedom of economic self-determination on the part of our citizens and businesses.
The methods we favor are: by reducing taxes and limiting the reach of government; by raising public standards for both the performance of needed government and the moment it is resorted to as a solution to society's problems; and, by empowering the better nature of the forces guiding this state and country for most of the 200-year journey since their founding, including self-reliance, private enterprise and private charity, and free-economy market forces.
Prior to joining the Buckeye Institute, Mr. Hansen was Managing Director of Public Policy Service for the Ohio Manufacturers' Association where he worked to win changes in government policies that would improve the competitiveness of the state's largest economic sector. Other highlights in his work for economic freedom and civil society include running his own business practice consulting U.S. and other governments in democracy development in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and service as Chief of Staff of the Michigan State Senate.
