Just not with you people

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 By Mike Maurer

The Dayton Daily News opines that “Cyber Command decision matters to Wright-Patt” in an editorial about a coming Air Force decision to locate a communications center somewhere in the U.S.

It’s a good piece, as far as these pieces go. The argument they make is much stronger than, for example, the argument for the DSCC – Defense Supply Center Columbus. Defense Supply Center Zanesville, Indianapolis or Washington, P.A. wouldn’t be all that different.

It reminds me of one of the best political statements I’ve ever heard. Violet Township had a choice to endorse one of two roads for a highway interchange, either Allen Road or Pickerington Road. They chose Pickerington (if memory serves), and the next meeting a crowd showed up unhappy with the choice.

One of the trustees began the meeting saying, “We could have chosen Allen Road. And the room would still be full tonight. Just not with you people.”
