Kudos to Center for Fiscal Accountability

Friday, February 13th, 2009 By Mike Maurer

One of the state’s major dailies has a photo today accompanying its main, above the fold article on the federal stimulus and its effect on state budgets. What is that photo? Can’t you guess? It’s a couple of hands, holding themselves out. (Sorry, the photo isn’t online, as far as I can see.) Headline: “How the stimulus bill helps Ohio,” or, alternatively, “Alms, sir, alms?”

Yuck. But cheers to the sense of humor of that photo editor, assuming he or she wasn’t in earnest.

Anyway, go support the folks at the Center for Fiscal Accountability, who are doing a great job looking at this monstrosity called “stimulus.” What I want to know is, how is it balancing the budget under the state constitution, if our political Solons have merely found another hidden tax door? We still paying that bill, even if our currency is inflation and the Seven Plagues in lieu of fair value.
