In the debate over whether Medicaid should be expanded, there are many questions about how Medicaid currently operates, and how expansion would work. There is also debate about whether Medicaid expansion will be good for the practice of medicine in our state, and whether expansion would be the compassionate thing to do for those who currently lack insurance coverage. To help us make sense of these questions and more, The Buckeye Institute is pleased to host two panels: the first composed of experts who have run the Medicaid program at the state and federal levels, and the second composed of local doctors and charities who can provide first-hand perspective as to whether expanding Medicaid would best serve Ohioans.

Speakers:

  • Dennis Smith, Managing Director, McKenna, Long & Aldridge LLP; Former Director of the Center for Medicaid and State Operations at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS); and former Secretary of the Department of Health Services for the State of Wisconsin
