The Buckeye Institute Named Finalist for Prestigious National Award
Jul 01, 2025Columbus, OH — The Buckeye Institute was just named a finalist for the prestigious national Bob Williams Award for Outstanding Policy Achievement in the “Biggest Win for Freedom” category, which honors the public policy victory with the most impact in the country for the year.
This nomination recognizes Buckeye’s role successfully advocating the best energy reform policy in a generation—Ohio House Bill 15.
“The Buckeye Institute is profoundly gratified even to be in contention for the illustrious Bob Williams Award for Outstanding Policy Achievement,” said Robert Alt, president and chief executive officer of The Buckeye Institute. “The Buckeye Institute-championed reforms guarantee reliable and affordable energy for Ohio families and small businesses for generations to come, and establish Ohio as a national leader in smart, sensible, free-market energy policy. We could not be prouder of this significant achievement.”
Voting is open only to registered attendees of State Policy Network’s 33rd Annual Meeting where the winners will be announced at its Celebration of Success Dinner on August 27, 2025, in New Orleans.
If you are eligible, please cast your ballot before July 10, at 11:59 p.m. EST for your relentless wonky think tank friends at the rockstar, small-but-mighty, overperforming Buckeye Institute—Changing the Energy Game in Ohio—by clicking this link below.
The Buckeye Institute’s timely and game-changing report, Better Energy Policy for Ohio—published in partnership with Americans for Prosperity-Ohio—laid the foundation in calling for bold reforms and was the first such work released. The report, coupled with Buckeye’s longstanding and principled position opposing all taxpayer-funded subsidies anywhere for any purpose together with Buckeye’s tireless advocacy and strong relationships with lawmakers ultimately led to the passage of Ohio House Bill 15.
These awards serve to memorialize iconic policy maven—the late great Bob Williams—and his significant legacy—and are presented yearly at SPN’s Annual Meeting.
