COVID Madness: Meet the D.C. Business Owners Fighting for FreedomMar 02, 2022
The nation’s capital has been operating in a state of emergency since the onset of the pandemic, leaving business owners forced to comply with mandates with no option to question or appeal them. For nearly two years, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the D.C. Council have invoked emergency powers—imposing mask mandates for schools and businesses and requiring restaurants to check customers’ vaccine status.
The Heritage Foundation brought together some of the courageous Washington, D.C. business owners on the frontlines who are directly affected by COVID regulations and have spoken out, including The Buckeye Institute’s client Eric Flannery and Buckeye’s president and CEO Robert Alt.
These business owners are fighting for their survival in a city where political leaders have amassed unprecedented power.
