Mr. Alt Goes to Washington—Pleading Buckeye’s Newest Case to Congress

Mar 01, 2022

When Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that restaurants in the District of Columbia would be required to turn away some customers based upon their medical history, Navy veteran Eric Flannery, who owns a neighborhood bar in our nation’s capital, publicly stated that he would not discriminate against anybody and everyone is welcome at The Big Board. As a result, the city immediately revoked Eric’s operating and liquor licenses—shutting down his business entirely and removing his ability to appeal the decision.

Robert Alt, The Buckeye Institute’s president and chief executive officer, and Buckeye’s courageous client Eric Flannery were invited by Leader Kevin McCarthy to address Members of Congress on Capitol Hill—prior to President Biden’s State of the Union.
