The Buckeye Institute is working with a coalition of allies from all sides to reform the civil asset forfeiture process in Ohio so that no agent of the government can seize an individual's property without due process. Join us for a discussion about reforms that are currently under consideration in the Ohio legislature to improve our state's civil asset forfeiture laws.

We will hear from experts on this issue including The Buckeye Institute's own President and CEO Robert Alt, who previously taught criminal law at Case Western Reserve University School of Law and is a national expert on criminal justice policy.

  • $80 million in assets have been forfeited in Ohio over the last decade.
  • 81% of Ohioans agree that the current laws require major reforms.
  • While most Ohioans are not familiar with the process, after learning more about civil asset forfeiture, an overwhelming majority of respondents would support reform, including 83% of Republicans, 87% of Democrats and 74% of independents.
