Columbus, OH – Rea S. Hederman Jr., executive director of the Economic Research Center and vice president of policy at The Buckeye Institute, commented after the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 33, Ohio’s biennial budget.  

“The Buckeye Institute is pleased that the Ohio House improved upon Governor DeWine’s proposal to make school choice available to more Ohio families, but overall, the House version of the budget is insufficient given the needs facing Ohio’s families and the state’s $6 billion budget surplus.

“The Ohio Senate now has a golden opportunity to enact reforms that will further expand school choice, flatten Ohio’s income tax, reduce government spending, and close tax loopholes. These bold reforms will strengthen Ohio’s education system, allow Ohioans to keep more of their hard-earned money, and lead to greater prosperity.”
